Though any rally car is allowed, we recommend newer four wheel drives rather then older two wheel drives. Be careful not to speed too quickly into corners as they are tight and can cause you to hit the walls. It will be safer to reduce your speed before the corner, and then take it into a power drift with the throttle. You may find that some corners will give you more points if you stick to the inside of the turn. Test a variety of driving patterns to match the car you've selected.

Mazda Roadster (MX-5) / Non-Racing Car Drift Trial Drift Trial Deep Forest Raceway Time: 11:00    Track Surface Water: 0% This is a Drift Trial Event using non-racing versions of Mazda's lightweight front engine, rear wheel drive sportscar, the Roadster and MX-5. The Roadster/MX-5 doesn't have a lot of power starting off, so the first step to take when tuning is increasing power. An addition of a turbo is recommended as it is cost effective and gives you much more torque. On the track, be careful of losing control as there are steep ascents and descents. Section 2 and the last section will especially cause a large load shift up and down, and can lead into a sudden oversteer, so take head of this as you enter the corner.

The way you handle the course will depend on the car. Lighter racing cars will need to be careful of hitting cornerstones too hard as it will upset their stability. Cornerstones especially on the inside of turn 2 can cause your car to oversteer as soon as you hit it with your tyre, and needs special care. On the other hand, if the car has a certain amount of weight, it will not be affected by cornerstones as much, and you will have more freedom in deciding your racing lines. If you wish to record stable laps, four wheel drives are relatively heavier and may prove to be a good choice.

2 Wheel Drive European Non-Racing Car Super Lap Time Trial Ascari Full Track Time: 13:00    Track Surface Water: 0% This is a Time Trial Event using European non-racing cars with 550PP or less. As long as it is 2 wheel drive the engine layout is not restricted. Though European cars are wide and varied, 2 wheel drives with a certain level of speed naturally tend to be mid engined cars. To mark a good time in a powerful mid engine rear wheel drive (MR), it is important to drive without sliding out the rear as much as possible. This is due to the common handling characteristic of an MR, in which a tail slide will greatly upset the stability of its angle while cornering. Operate the throttle carefully, and drive to maximise tyre grip. Because there are many turns in Ascari, it may also be effective to select closer ratio gears for the transmission.

Though a wide selection of cars are available to choose from, you should probably select a touring based racing or rally car, rather than a single seater. And though high powered cars are easier to initiate into a drift, their control is also more difficult; try to select a car that fits your skill level. Of the four scoring sections, the one that will have the most effect on the total score, because of its difficulty, will be the second section at the 130R turn. It would be best to go full throttle into the corner and initiate the drift using only the steering operation, but since you'll be drifting at high speed, care must be taken to avoid applying too much countersteer.

This track requires high speed drifting, so it will be more advantageous to select cars with a long wheelbase that will be easier to stabilise in a drift. For tuning, American cars tend to have a lot of power to start with, so focus more on reducing weight and its suspension settings. Adjusting the suspension setup will greatly affect the outcome, especially at the section containing three repeating corners. Balance the tire grip and adjust the suspension to a hardness that is easier for you to control.
