McLaren open to a deeper partnership with Honda

Honda and McLaren are reportedly considering a broader partnership than their previously announced Formula 1 engine supply deal.

Speaking to Autocar, McLaren F1 boss Martin Whitmarsh said the current deal is a "pure Formula 1 contract but we’ve already been looking at automotive technology and we’re sharing that very openly." He went on to say "Our road car strategy, at the moment, has no other automotive partner and Honda would be a good place to collaborate.”

Whitmarsh declined to go into specifics but speculation suggests the companies could sign a bilateral technical arrangement which would benefit road-going models from both automakers.

While a broader partnership sounds tantalizing Whitmarsh cautioned any benefits, from the proposed tie-up, would be several years off.

Mike Rockenfeller took his second DTM pole position of the year as qualifying at Moscow Raceway was halted for the most bizarre of reasons.

Championship leader Rockenfeller had set the pace in the third of four scheduled parts of qualifying in his Phoenix Audi, and was set to be joined in Q4 by Mattias Ekstrom, Augusto Farfus and Bruno Spengler.

However, shortly before Q4 was due to start, the airspace above the circuit was closed due to the imminent flypast of Russian president Vladimir Putin's private jet.

This meant the track's medical helicopter would have been unable to take off should anybody have needed it during the single-lap pole shoot-out.

With a two-hour closure on airspace announced, race officials decided to cancel Q4 and instead set the front two rows of the grid based on the times set in Q3.

stvarno moraš manijački juriti da uspiješ izletiti sa gt-r, bar taj auto ima gripa koliko češ i jako pametnu elektriku

To je opcenito problem sa svim automobilima danas. U danasnjim modernim automobilima od najnizih klasa ti i ne osjetis kad ides 80 naprimjer. Ljudi sve manje razmisljaju svojom glavom. Sljepo se vjeruje tehnologiji. Google generation.

Ne vridi kasko na stazi, mozda vani postoji neko osiguranje za ljude sta idu na track day al ne virujem i u nas.
